Purpose: To demonstrate the ophthalmological findings in a case of Ehlers Danlos Syndrome.
Methods: A 12 year old, male child, known case of Ehlers Danlos Syndrome, was examined. The child had umbilical hernia, cystitis with left kidney hydronephrosis, non-communicating hydrocephalus and hypotonia and mental retardation. He also had hyperextensibility of joints. The patient was referred from department of Neurology. Ophthalmological examination was done.
Results: Ophthalmological examination revealed that sclera was bluish and thinned in both the eyes. Overaction of inferior rectus muscle was observed. Other anterior segment findings were within normal limits. Fundus examination was normal.
Conclusions: Ehlers-Danlos syndrome is a group of disorders that affect the connective tissues that support the skin, bones, blood vessels, and many other organs and tissues. Ocular findings seen in this case of Ehlers Danlos Syndrome were Scleral Thinning and Extraocular muscle over-action.
