Aim : To analyze customized ocular prosthesis in aesthetical, functional aspects, its effect on socket when used over a period of time.
Material and Method : Prospective,Case series of 30 eyes of 30 patients, who were rehabilitated with custom made ocular prosthesis,following parameters were compared with fellow eye and graded on scale: Upper eyelid, lower eyelid, horizontal plane,Palpebral fissure and motility of prosthesis.6 months follow up was done with similar evaluation and subjective questionnaire to asses psycho-social profile.
Results : Cause of eye loss 60%trauma, 16%congenital anophthalomos, 23% medical cause. Socket evaluation finding: There were 20phthscial eyes, 7eyes -eviscerated, 1eye- enucleated and 2 eyes were congenital anophthalmos. Similarity with fellow eye at baseline in all parameter but there was no statistically significant difference between 2 follow up visits .
Conclusion : Customized ocular prosthesis, maintains symmetry with fellow eye and also shows motility.
