Aim: To evaluate the safety and visual performance of IPCL phakic intraocular lens.
Methods: This was a retrospective case series of IPCL implanted in eyes with high myopia.vision testing, corneal topography (Sirius Pentacam), anterior segment OCT (OptoVue), specular microscopy preoperatively and again at 2hours (OCT for vault), 1day, 1 week and 1 month.
Results: We studied 38 eyes of 20 consecutive patients. The mean myopic spherical equivalent preoperatively was -11.0+5.7. The BCDVA improved from baseline (0.23+0.2 logMAR, 20/32 Snellen’s) to postoperative day 1 (0.13+0.1 logMAR, 20/25 Snellen’s) (p=0.002) and remained stable at 1 week and 1month post op. There was significant reduction in AC depth and all eyes showed narrowing of angles at 1 week postop, which then stabilized. Lens vault reduced from 695+194 to 641+177 at 1 month (p<0.001). Conclusion: IPCL implantation correction of myopia in all eyes without major complications. The lens vault gradually reduces over 1 month.
