Cataract is a treatable cause of blindness. There is lot of advancement in its treatment and diagnosis. So many public awareness program are being executed in the society. But still cataract is so much prevalent in out society. We are regularly seeing patients coming to OPD with very poor vision due to advance cataract. We designed a questionnaire which was given to 100 patients with advance cataract coming to our OPD to know why they come so late at such a advance stage of cataract with so much of poor vision. Result : 19% of patients did not know that cataract surgery can be done even at immature stage, 53% delayed it due to family functions and their liabilities, 8% were afraid of injection being used, 4% were unfit due to medical illness and 16% were delaying due to unknown cause. Conclusion: Still cataract is neglected illness in our society inspite of all attempts taken at all levels.
