AIM-To establish normative data for the macular thickness by spectral-domain optical coherence tomography (SD-OCT) in subjects with no known retinal disease. Material & methods . It was a Prospective, observational cross sectional study done at tertiary eye care centre in central india for a study duration of 1 year. Patients of age range 11-60 years were included and divided in different age groups. All underwent macular thickness measurement using SD-OCT. Average and quadrant-wise macular thickness parameters were analyzed in terms of age and gender. Result – Average macular thickness demonstrated a slope per decade of age. In this study central foveal thickness was thinnest of all quadrants. Our study showed that men had greater central foveal thickness as compared to women. Conclusion- While reading an OCT scan, age should always be considered as an important factor and gender plays a role in deciding central foveal thickness.
