AIM: Retrospective Study to assess the incidence of the PCO(symptomatic) in various types of intra ocular lenses, after phacoemulsification in a tertiary care hospital from august 2015 to february 2016. 490 patients,above 18 years of age, all types of introcular lenses and uncomplicated phacoemulsification were included. Grade of cataract, Experience of surgeon,Type of surgery, IOL, timing of YAG Capsulotomy,Type for PCO were analysed.RESULTS: Mean age 59.9(±10.88), female preponderance by 13%. Right eye commoner by 8%, Pearl common(51.75%). Time of presentation variable maximum incidence from 19 to 42 months. Hydrophilic lenses most common developing PCO(74.45%) and Hydrophobic acrylic lenses – 10% developed PCO. CONCLUSION: Our study reiterates the fact that type of IOL single most important factor “after cataract” in uncomplicated phacoemulsification with The surgeon’s experience and grade of cataract had minimal influence in the development of PCO.
