Purpose:
To evaluate the efficacy and safety of intra cameral Perfluoroethane (C3F8) gas along with compression sutures versus C3F8 gas alone
Method:
Retrospective, interventional case series. 20 eyes of 20 patients who presented with acute hydrops . Patients were divided into 2 groups. Group 1 case was treated with 14% iso expansile concentration of C3F8 gas along with compression sutures. Group 2 cases were treated with intra cameral C3F8 gas alone. with intra cameral. follow-up period was 6 months
Result:
All the patients required only one injection during the treatment period. There was a statistically significant difference between the visual outcomes in two groups. The average time between initial presentation and complete resolution of corneal edema was 14+/-7 days in group 1 and 62.0±30 days in-group 2.
Conclusion:
Compression sutures with intra cameral iso expansile concentration of C3F8 gas serves as a safe and effective treatment modality for patients with acute hydrops.
