We report a case of 54 years male patient who presented with blurred vision OU since two years. Visual acuity with pinhole was CF three meter and 6/12 respectively in OD and OS. Slit lamp examination was within normal limit OU. Some retinal pigment epithelial defects in macular and peripapillary area OU was seen on fundoscopy. OCT revealed an increased macular thickness, separation of the inner and outer retina with schisis cavity OD. FFA showed window defect and staining OU. We diagnosed it as foveoschisis OD. We treated the patient with a single dose of 0.3 mL perflurocarbon (C3F8) OD followed by prone positioning for two weeks. After ten days of treatment OCT showed disappearance of the schisis cavity in OD with improvement of vision to 6/36 on pinhole.
CONCLUSIONS
Intraocular expansible gas and prone positioning could be an alternative treatment in selected cases of non myopic foveoschisis in absence of epiretinal membranes and macular holes.
