The study aimed to analyze the clinical profile, imaging studies and recovery pattern in patients of cranial nerve palsies in Eastern Indian. A retrospective study of patients diagnosed with ocular cranial nerve palsies who presented from 2014 – 2016. Demographic data, causes, treatment and recovery of the palsy were evaluated in patients who had follow-up visit of at least one month. 77 patients were identified with diagnosis of third, fourth, sixth and multiple cranial nerve palsies. Mean age of onset was 55.2 years with female preponderance 53.2% .Majority of cases presented with double vision in 36.4% followed by headache and pain in eyes in 31.2% and ptosis in 15.6% cases. Sixth nerve palsy was the most common involvement 41.5%. The causes were ischemia 46.7%, trauma 28.6% and idiopathic in 14.2%. Spontaneously recovery was observed in 75% within 6 months. Hence, sixth nerve is most commonly affected .Neuroimaging helps to evaluate, diagnose and treat acute ocular motor palsies.
