AIM:To study relationship between diabetic retinopathy and biochemical parameters viz.Fbs,blood urea,HbA1C ,serum creatinine,lipid profile,micro album in ur I a and to correlate biochemical parameters with severity and grade of diabetic retinopathy.
METHODS:Observational study done on 100 patients attending our hospital from Jan 2016 to Jan 2017 of which M:F 62:38,with age between 40 to 85 years.All patients underwent clinical and biochemical examination along with ophthalmoscopic (direct and indirect ) examination.Fundus photography is taken in positive patients
RESULTS:Out of 100 patients 46showed no evidence of retinopathyand 53,showed retinopathy of which 31-mildNPDR,12-moderate NPDR,3-severeNPDR,5-PDR.
CONCLUSION:This study highlights strong correlation between diabetic retinopathy and various risk factors like duration,hypertension,high triglyceride levels,cholesterol.
