• ABSTRACT
OBJECTIVE:
• To study ocular manifestation of coats’ disease In Children.
MATERIALS & METHODS: The child undergone detailed ocular examination which includes vision testing by Snellen’s chart, slit lamp examination, fundus examination was done by direct and indirect ophthalmoscopy and by a fundus camera, IOP was measured by applanation tonometry and B scan of the child was done.
• STUDY DESIGN- PROSPECTIVE STUDY.
• Participant: A 6 year old child suffering from coats’ disease & sensory exotropia left eye.
• CONCLUSION:
The present case suggests that Coats disease is a very rare condition found in children where there is abnormal development in the blood vessels behind the retina of the eye. The blood-rich retinal capillaries break open, leaking the serum portion of the blood into the back of the eye. The leakage causes the retina to swell, leading to partial or complete detachment of the retina.
