To observe the retinal manifestations in a diagnosed case of SLE and its ophthalmic evaluation for management.Retinal lesions are rare in SLE and occur in only 25 to 30% of patients .Retinal findings of lupus fall into four categories: cotton wool spots , retinal hemorrhages, minimal papilledema and subretinal edema. These observations have led to the recognition of “LUPUS RETINOPATHY,” an entity that occurs independently of hypertension or other complicating features. A 21 year female, was referred from the dermatology department with the complains of occasional blurring of vision of both the eyes and for acquiring clearance for hydroxychloroquine(HCQ) therapy. On examination posterior segment showed Bilateral Optic disc edema with neuroretinitis and an unhealthy macula. O.C.T showed bilateral retinal edema .Clearance for HCQ was denied, systemic steroids were started and the recovery was eventful .SLE can cause visual loss or blindness if left untreated.
