AIM: A prospective study of patients presenting with thyroid eye disease (TED). METHODS: 60 consecutive cases of TED were evaluated considering demographic factors, thyroid profile, CT scan brain and orbits with contrast and clinical staging. RESULTS: Of 60 TED patients, 38 females (63.3 %) and 22 males (36.6%), age group varied from 30-70 years, common being 40-50 years was found. Exposure keratitis and dry eye were common presenting symptoms followed by restricted movement and corneal ulcer. Low SES and smoking were common associations. Supportive ocular surface protection, lubrication, IVMP, immunosuppressives, surgery in cases of vision threatening TED, ultimately radiotherapy was applied as and when necessary. CONCLUSION: Our study showed female predominance (63.3%), age group 40-50 years, with exposure keratitis as common presenting symptom. A timely multidisciplinary approach to TED can help reduce ocular morbidity and visual prognosis following treatment was promising.
