AIM- To evaluate the ocular manifestation of Thyroid dysfunction(TD).
METHODOLOGY- A Prospective nonrandomized observational study was carried out on 106 patients of Thyroid dysfunction. They were examined in detail for demography, systemic and ocular examination and lab investigation. Period of study was 1 year.
RESULT- In this study, average age of presentation of TD was 40.6 years. 27 patients were male and 79 were female. Most of the patients from both sexes were in the age group of 40 or above. 16.9% were hyperthyroid, 66.98% were hypothyroid and 10.3% were in euthyroid state. 56 (52.28%) cases had ocular manifestation. The common lid manifestation were lid lag and lid retraction. Proptosis was seen in 6.7% cases, corneal ulcer was 2.8%, Dry eye was 23.58% cases and POAG seen in 0.3% cases.
CONCLUSION- Females were more commonly affected. But ocular manifestation were more severe in male. So it is important to rule out TD in patients with other ocular symptom.
