AIM :Restrospective analysis of results of 90 cases of ACIOL implantation in the era of multipiece PCIOL, SFIOL,or glued IOL.
METHOD: Ninty cases of ACIOL implantation over a period of 3 years with a minimum F/U period of 6 months is done. Preoperative evaluation included BCVA, S/L examination, I/O or B-scan. Post operative complications in each visit and final visual acuity were noted.
RESULTS:There were 68 males(75.5%) and 22 females (24.5%) in our study and indications for ACIOL implantation included post traumatic (86.44%) lens or IOL drop(13.56%) and complications of cataract surgery ( 48.3%) and IOL drop (51.6%). The final visual outcome showed improvement in 72 cases (80%), remained same in 11(12.2%) and deteriorated in 7(7.8%)cases.
CONCLUSION:In the era of advanced sophisticated PCIOL implantation with availability of SFIOL and glued IOL ACIOL still remains economically beneficial, viable and visually promising option for IOL in aphakic eyes due to trauma or surgery.
