Aim : To report a Case of choroidal metastasis in the posterior pole of a one eyed patient and preservation of vision by External Beam Radiotherapy(EBRT).
Method : Case report a 47 year old male patient presented with 2 weeks history of diminished vision in theleft eye followed by dyspnoea a week later. BCVA was 6/12 in the right eye and 6/24 in the left eye. Fundus examination of right eye showed an elevated choroidal mass temporal to fovea and left eye had exudative retinal detachment. Bronchoscopic biopsy revealed adenocarcinoma of the lung, stage IV. Following 3 cycles of chemotherapy he presented with severe pain, proptosis, raised Intra ocular pressure and no perception of light in the left eye which was enucleated. EBRT(40 Gy in 20 fractions) was given to right eye. The choroidal mass reduced and patient preserved 6/18 vision till one year of follow up.
Conclusion : EBRT may be used as an effective adjuvant to chemotherapy to preserve vision in patients with choroidal metastasis.
