Purpose:To compare the visual outcomes between wavefront optimized and topoguided surface ablation for treating myopia and myopic astigmatism. Methods: Records of patients who underwent wavefront optimized and topoguided surface ablation were retrieved and analysed. Uncorrected and corrected distance visual acuity were analyzed preoperatively and postoperatively at one and 3 months. Results: Seventy eyes underwent topoguided ablation and two forty-four eyes underwent wavefront optimized ablation. The mean preoperative corrected distance visual acuity (CDVA) was 0.02+/-0.08 logMAR for topography-guided and 0.01+/-0.05 logMAR for wavefront optimized [P >0.1]. Three month postoperative uncorrected distance visual acuity (UDVA) was 0.007 logMAR for topography-guided and 0.003 logMAR for wavefront-optimized ablation[P >0.1].Conclusion: Visual outcomes were statistically similar between the wavefront-optimized and topography-guided ablations in eyes with simple myopia and myopic astigmatism
