PURPOSE:To study incidence, characteristics &risk factors of Keratoconus(KC) in Pediatric population&to assess the efficacy of CXL.Methods:Retrospective descriptive study conducted from Jan 2006 to July 2015.Patients <12 years with diagnosis of KC were included.UCVA,BCVA,subjective refraction, slit lamp biomicroscopy, fundoscopy& topography were performed.RESULTS: 586 eyes of 294 patients were included.Mean age was 9.3years,male preponderance.25% had Grade 4 KC.Baseline mean UCVA was 0.86,BCVA was 0.44,K1 was 54.82D,K2 was 48.21D&Avg K value was 51.99D.4% eyes showed progression and underwent CXL.Visual&topographic parameters remained stable without any complication at follow up(p<0.001).The non cross-linked eyes, showed significant progression(p<0.001).2.3% eyes required keratoplasty showed significant improvement in BCVA postop(p<0.001).CONCLUSION: Keratoconus is advanced in children with faster progression.Early diagnosis, close monitoring &treatment at early stage is of greater benefit
