The prospective study included 100 eyes of patients with a corneal diameter between 11mm and 12mm, who underwent phacoemulsification. Group 1 included 50 eyes with a corneal diameter between 11 and 11.5mm and Group 2 had 50 eyes between 11.6 and 12mm. Preoperatively Auto K, Orbscan and IOL Master 500 were done d. The patients were followed up on Day 1, Day 15 and 3 months.
Both the study groups were comparable in terms of age, CCT and keratometry. However, the difference in corneal diameters and axial lengths between the two groups were statistically significant (p< 0.01 and 0.02 respectively). The mean SIA in Group 1 at 15 days and 3 months were 0.40±0.06 and 0.35±0.05 respectively, and in Group 2, it was 0.38±0.05 and 0.34±0.04 respectively. A statistically significant difference in SIA was observed between Group 1 and Group 2 after 15 days of surgery (p 0.037) whereas the difference was not statistically significant between the two groups after 3 months.
