PURPOSE: Identifying risk factors for late presentation of advanced glaucoma at a rural hospital in Eastern India. METHOD: A case control study was done from January to April 2017 among 200 patients, 100 patients in each group. Cases had advanced field loss involving central 5°, VCDR ≥ 0.8 and Controls had field defect sparing central 20°, VCDR ≥ 0.5 to < 0.8. RESULT: Mean age of Case was 67.19 years and 55.88 in control group (p0.00). A female patient was less than one third of male who presented late (OR 0.28). Skilled serviceman was to be half of unskilled one (OR 0.54). Patients from far were one third of patients from near (OR 0.38). Patients from below poverty line were very less compared to patients from above poverty line (OR 0.04). Patients with poor vision presented late (p 0.00).CONCLUSION: Age, gender, occupation, distance, economic statuses were main risk factors for late presentation of advanced glaucoma.
