Dr.Sushmita Kaushik
Glaucoma is a chronic progressive optic neuropathy, with the risk of irreversible blindness unless appropriately treated. The goal of all glaucoma management is to preserve useful visual function in the patient’s lifetime. However, Glaucoma comprises a vast conundrum of conditions presenting in different stages of severity, each with its unique propensity to progress at different rates. This Instruction Course shall highlight the salient features to keep in mind while deciding the follow-up of any patient diagnosed with glaucoma. It shall look into how to set appropriate target pressures, determine follow-up schedules for different diseases, and detect progression using structural and functional tools with case scenarios from real world situations. At the end of this Course, the attendee will learn appropriate monitoring of any patient with glaucoma; when to intervene, how to intervene, when to observe and how to decide the most appropriate treatment plan for the particular patient.
