Dr.Shaloo Bageja
Correct management of orbital wall fractures is based on meticulous evaluation including appropriate use of imaging modalities, proper surgical techniques and choice of indicated implants ( autologous / synthetic, biointegerable, titanium plates). A number of advances including better understanding and classification of abnormalities on imaging, use of computer models for assessment of changes in orbital shape and volume and their correction by customised shaping of implants have improved the management. Better surgical techniques, use of navigation and use of fillers and fat injections have brought about a sea change . Multidisciplinary management is particularly critical in multiple wall fractures and Naso orbital ethmoid fractures. Finer points in evaluation and surgical techniques will be presented by video films. A discussion will help clear the cobwebs and clarify concepts.
