This course is intended to cover the various manifestation of ocular trauma, particularly related to the posterior segment.
It will include, the clinical signs and relevant investigations. One of the most controversial subjects is the definitive management of the posterior segment injury. This will be covered in detail with pros and cons of the early and late intervention.
Retained IOFB is a common accompaniment of penetrating injury. Various sites of lodgment, its complications and appropriate approach for its removal will be discussed.
The complexities of retinal injury associated with trauma, including complex retinal detachment, vitreous and retinal incarceration and its management will be discussed in detail.
Endophthalmitis is a dreaded complication of any penetrating injury and more so in cases of retained IOFB. What’s different in the presentation and the appropriate way to successfully rehabilitate the patient’s vision will be dealt.
