Dr.Kirti Singh
Co-existence of ocular and systemic morbidities in a patient of primary and secondary glaucoma makes the treatment individualized, requiring out of textbook decisions requiring analytical skills. Such decisions require a structured road map with treatment algorithms. This course attempts to delineate common patient based approaches – of glaucoma suspect with altered lens dynamics, post-surgical conditions of keratoplasty, refractive surgery, vitreoretinal surgery, steroid induced glaucoma in steroid dependent cases, coexisting diabetes and hypertension. Algorithms will be given for different phaco manoeuvres in filtered eyes and strategies for improving patient adherence. Special emphasis will be on prophylaxis of post-surgery glaucoma’s, altered blood flow dynamics and optimal doctor patient communication employing empathy.
Video assisted teaching would be used wherever required and the glaucoma algorithms will be summarized in the end followed by interactive session.
