ABSTRACT
We aim to present a case of spindle cell carcinoma of conjunctiva, a rare variant of squamous cell carcinoma – its clinical presentation, surgical management and outcome of treatment.
Material and methods
Case Report
A 25-year-old male patient presented with a conjunctival mass in right eye which was surgically excised with adjuvant cryotherapy intra- operatively. Histopathological findings were corroborative of Spindle cell carcinoma of conjunctiva. Patient also received post operative chemotherapy in the form of Mitomycin C eye drops
Result
Patient has completed follow up period of 6 months and no recurrence has been noted.
Discussion
Spindle cell carcinoma of the conjunctiva is relatively rare, with only a few cases reported in literature. This case of histologically proven spindle cell carcinoma was managed by surgical resection and adjunctive measures with good outcome and no recurrence. However a longer follow up is desirable.
