Dr.SHIVANGI SINGH
TOPIC: To describe a case of sterile infiltrate following Small Incision Lenticule Extraction
METHOD: Case report
RESULT: One week following an uneventful SMILE surgery the patient presented with complaints of pain and redness in his right eye. On examination, a semicircular sterile infiltrate was noted in the right eye, outside the area of SMILE treatment. The overlying epithelium was intact and a clear corneal zone was present between the infiltrate and the limbus. A sterile etiology was suspected and a treatment regimen of topical steroid was started. The infiltrated resolved without scaring, with a final unaided distance visual acuity 20/20.
CONCLUSION: Sterile infiltrate following SMILE responds well to treatment with steroids.
PRECIS: This is first reported case of sterile infiltrate following SMILE to the best of our knowledge.
