Visual quality depends on better ocular SA and this comprises of SA of cornea and crystalline lens. During Lasik procedure, cornea undergoes structural changes which alters it’s SA and subsequently of the whole eye. After lasik, these patients hardly complaints of glare and haloes. To understand this we have measured SA of cornea before lasik procedure in myopia ranging from -2D SE to -10D SE in 72 eyes. All eyes became emmetropic. SA of cornea was again measured after 6 months and results were analyzed. In 12 eyes having myopia up to -3D, SA increased by 67.68% (Group-A). In 42 eyes having myopia between -3 to -5D, SA increased by 145.81% (Group-B) and in 18 eyes having myopia between -5 to -10D (Group-C), SA increased by 209.12%. All patients were evaluated about their quality of life by asking standard questionnaire. All pts had very good quality vision. This paper will discuss the possible explanations, as why it happens inspite of grossly altered ocular SA.
