AIM- To study about lenticular changes affecting visual prognosis in blunt trauma cases in a tertiary care hospital.
METHODS-It is a prospective observational study conducted from Jan 2015- Jan 2017 in a tertiary care hospital. Total of 33(42.3%)cases out 78 blunt trauma cases were included with lenticular changes presenting to opd.
RESULTS- Out of 33 pts, 24(72.7%)pts had cortical and rosette cataractous changes, 7(21.2%) pts had various degrees of subluxation, 2 (6%) pts had anterior capsular tear. Of the 24 cataract changes pts those who had cataract surgergy sooner had better prognosis and subluxation cases also the sooner treatment was given better were the visual prognosis. In the capsular tear pts visual prognosis was as such less than expected.
CONCLUSION- So visual prognosis in these lenticular changes depends on days after trauma which the pt presented and sooner treatment was given .
