INTRODUCTION: A retained intra-orbital foreign body(IOrbFb) can give rise to serious complications, most devastating of which is loss of eye.Organic matter like wood and vegetative matter are poorly tolerated as they elicit an intense inflammatory reaction, and need to be removed urgently.
METHODS: We are presenting a case of 60 y old female who came to department with history of fall and injury to her Right Orbit with PL vision. On examination patient had chemosis and showed an object between supra-orbital ridge and eyeball. On surgical exploration, the object was grasped with forceps and withdrawn to reveal its identity as the broken end of a wooden piece measuring 45 X 10 mm. The patient had mature cataract.
CONCLUSION: Wooden intraorbital foreign body is serious condition which needs to be removed, sight loss grossly depends upon size of FB and damage to Optic nerve or its blood supply.
