Subhyaloid hemorrhageis an intraocular collection of blood that remains contained in a self-created, previously non -existent space, usually between the posterior limiting layer of the vitreous &the retina. It is a rare, potentially vision threatening conditioncan lead to sudden & severe loss of vision when it takes place in the macular area.
Method: We present a case series of 5 patients of different age groups &associated medical conditions. The patients were treated by different modalities depending on the judgement of the treating surgeon. Two patients were treated with a double frequency Nd-yag laser& three with TPP vitrectomy& ILM peeling in one patient.
Result: The final outcome of four patients was found to be satisfactory but one patient did not attain complete visual acuity.
Conclusion:A double frequency Nd-yag laser hyaloidtomyis an effective procedure for the treatment of recent subhyloidhemorrhage, TPP vitrectomycan also be an effective procedure in selected cases.
