Aim – To present a case with bilateral central retinal artery occlusion (CRAO) and left sided cilioretinal artery (ClRA) sparing with Raynaud’s phenomenon.
Method -A 40 year old female had sudden, painless loss of vision in right eye (RE) 6 months back. She had numbness of right arm and gangrene of fingers which was diagnosed and treated as Raynaud’s disease elsewhere. The visual acuity was 3/60 and 6/6 in right & left eye. Anterior segment was normal except for the ill sustained pupil reaction in RE. Attenuation of retinal vessels and box carring was noted on fundus examination in the RE. Diffuse retinal and macular whitening was present. A similar picture was noted in the left eye (LE) but with a normal macular reflex suggesting a patent ClRA.
Result – After retinal imaging, a diagnosis of bilateral CRAO with LE ClRA sparing was made.
Conclusion – ClRA sparing in left eye of the patient who had bilateral CRAO lead to preservation of central vision in left eye.
