Purpose:To describe the surgical outcome of pediatric glaucoma in South Indian eyes over a course of five years. Methods:Retrospective study of pediatric patients who underwent glaucoma surgeries between January 2012 to December 2016. Results:24 children(27 eyes) were included.Secondary glaucoma in 58% and primary congenital glaucoma in 25% cases.1 case each had Weil Marchesani, Dandy Walker and Congenital Aniridia Syndrome.8% had juvenile glaucoma.Initial surgeries included trabeculectomy with trabeculotomy(26%),trabeculectomy with MMC (30%),with ologen (7%) and with IOL(4%) and glaucoma drainage device (GDD)( 37%).Revision surgeries included GDD implantaion for failed trabeculectomy with trabeculotomy and trabeculectomy with MMC,in one case each.70% eyes had qualified success,15 % complete success and 15% failure.Average preop and postop IOP was 32.9 and 22.8 mmHg ,respectively. Conclusion:The study illustrates various surgical modalities for childhood glaucoma with their outcomes.
