Schwannomas are benign encapsulated primary neurilemmal tumours composed of proliferating Schwann cells. They are commonly seen in the orbit but are rare on the conjunctival surface.Herein we report a case of 48 yr old lady who presented to us with a slow growing painless conjunctival mass on the RE.
The lesion was interest was a perilimbal 3×3 cirmcumscribed lesion .It was suspected to be a OSSN and Impression cytology was done followed by Excisionbiopsy.Biopsy was done according to the Shield’s ‘No touch’ technique.
Histopathology of the excised mass showed a fascicular arrangement of the spindle shaped tumour cells .Antoni A and Antoni B areas were seen suggestive of Schwannoma.
The age at presentation varirs from 10 to 72 years and our case was a 48 yr old female.Based on the published literature only 10 cases have been reported and that makes this case a rare one.
