Aim – To evaluate graft clarity and complications in re-grafting of failed keratoplasty
Methods –Total 52(M-35, F-17) regrafted eyes were analysed retrospectively. Initial graft types, time interval since first grafting, preoperative vision, graft size, clarity, donor cell density, and complications noted on each visit of 1st, 3rd, 6th month, 1st year.
Results –Preoperative cases are failed therapeutic(n-44),optical(n-4),DSEK(n-4).Regrafting are PKIOL(n-26),PK(n-22/),PK with AV(n-4).At 1yr 65.3%(n=34)maintain clear graft,34.6%(n-18) has failed graft. Complications occurred in 42.3% (n-22) with infection 9.62% (n-5), glaucoma 13.4% (n-7), and rejection 5.7% (n-3), and epithelial defect 3.8% (n-2), RD (n-1), CME (n-2), and ERM (n-1).
Conclusion –Regrafting for visual restoration is reasonably successful but also with frequent complications. Proper case selection and early detection can rescue.
