Phacoemulsification is the surgery of choice for cataract extraction in the current millennium. Many surgeons want to master this technique but main hurdles to start are reluctant to change for the fear of committing
complications. This course will highlight the stages of stepwise transition from SICS to Phaco, basics of phaco procedures, recognition & management of complications & other intraoperative surprises at various steps, so as to reduce the learning curve. Complications related to incision size, rhexis, incomplete hydro, difficulty in chopping, PCR at various steps, tips for successful vitrectomy will be discussed. Difficult cases like hard
cataract, intumescent cataracts, and small pupil strategies (iris hooks, ring & expander) will be dealt. A new technique – Terminal Chop will be taught. Highly experienced faculty will be sharing their experiences. This
