INTRODUCTION: A retained intra-orbital foreign body(FB) can give rise to serious complications, the most devastating of which is loss of the eye.Organic matter like wood and vegetative matter are poorly tolerated as they elicit an intense inflammatory reaction, and need to be removed urgently.
METHODS: We are presenting a case of 60 yr old female who came to the department with history of fall and injury to her right eye with PL vision. On examination the patient had chemosis and showed an object between supra-orbital ridge and eyeball..On surgical exploration, the object was grasped with forceps and withdrawn to reveal its identity as the broken end of a wooden piece measuring 45 X 10 mm.
CONCLUSION: In this video we are highlighting the challenges faced and surgical approach taken while removing the FB.Understanding the circumstances in which an injury occurs and the composition of the FB helps to direct the clinician’s diagnostic and treatment decisions.
