Posterior vitreous detachment (PVD) induction is a major step in VR surgeries, the importance of which has often been understated. We present a video compilation of the unconventional ways of PVD induction in difficult situations where the conventional method of starting from the margins of disc does more damage than help. We have demonstrated the ‘Mega Weiss Ring’ technique for complete PVD induction in cases of anomalous PVD in retinal detachment in children where PVD induction is difficult. The technique depicts a coordinated use of Tano’s scrapper, PFCL bubble and a forceps in a manner which is easy to learn and which provides consistent results in paediatric RD in PVD induction. Our video also demonstrates how inducing PVD from the periphery and extending it to the posterior pole actually helps in smooth execution of the surgery without unwanted retinal breaks in Diabetic Vitrectomy.
