SLET or Simple Limbal Epithelial Transplantation has revolutionised the management of various end stage ocular surface diseases following ocular burn injury. It can be autologous or allogenic and even autologous SLET can be of single layer or double layer AMT (Amniotic Membrane Transplantation) technique.
Here in this video, I will show some of the children who underwent SLET with double layer AMT technique with reasonably good results with functional navigable vision. All these children had initial chuna injury and were treated locally by the Ophthalmologists with medical management only and without much visual improvement. Many other doctors refused further treatment on those eyes because of unpredictable outcomes. Here after the surgery, all children and their parents are now happy with good cosmetic outcome and some functional vision. So I feel hope reigns and all is not lost.
