AIM- We would like to demonstrate novel surgical techniques managing cases of traumatic cataract after open globe injuries(OGI) and challenges encountered.
MATERIALS AND METHODS –Various anterior and posterior surgical techniques adopted to make it pole to pole surgery. Surgical technique selected according to morphology and condition of tissue.First we repair for the open globe by corneal or scleral wound suturing if required . After sealing of wound is achieved patient is followed & investigated for visual prognosis.Now the patient is managed accordingly for cataract depending on type of cataract,capsular integrity, zonular status.
CONCLUSION – Planning surgical approach is of prime importance in traumatic cataract following OGI for better visual prognosis.
