Aim-to demonstrate techniques of handling occlusio pupilae in cataract surgery.
Introduction- Occlusio pupillae pupil represents a challenge for cataract surgeons.Causes can be posterior synechiae,previous trauma or surgery,diabetes, uveitis.
Methods- Occlusion pupillae due to synechiae can be synechiolysed by capsullorhexsis forceps, mechanical use of viscoelastic substances, membrane peeling then performed surgery.
Result-Occlusiopupillae impedes visualization,making instrument placement difficult Causing problems during capsullorhexis,hydrodissection,increasing the risk of sphincter tear,posterior capsular rent and nucleus drop are overcome by the above techniques.
Conclusion- these methods provide an effective way of handling occlusio pupillae,improving postoperative visual outcome in more than 100 cases
