Torn, diseased or colobomatous iris can cause intolerable glare, photophobia and visual distortion. It is therefore advisable to repair significant iris defect ( iridoplasty). This video illustrates the technique for repair of a significant defect in the iris using the siepser sliding knot technique. This is a closed chamber slipping suture iris repair technique where suture throws are taken outside anterior chamber and knot is slided inside the anterior chamber .This video shows a slight modification from the original suturing technique described by Siepser and also describes tips to make the procedure smooth. This technique can also be used for the iris fixation of IOL along with reconstruction.
