This technique of pterygium excision was started with the aim to decrease the recurrence rate , operative time and postoperative pain and discomfort to the patients. the surgery is done under subconjuctival anaesthesia. using fugo blade the head and neck of pterygium growth along with subconjuctival growth is ablated . Following this the corneal surface is smoothened using a crescent blade . A steel suture is placed to approximate the conjuctival edges. the ends of suture are cut flush to avoid any pricking. lastly a bandage contact lens is placed . Post operatively patient is given antibiotic steroid drops, lubricants and 0.02% mitomycin drops 3 times/days . At post op day 10, BCL is removed and mitomycin is stopped. Antibiotic steroid and lubricating drops are continued for 6 weeks.
