The repair of soft tissue deformity like cicatricial ectropion requires an understanding of surgical anatomy, tissue response to trauma & techniques of tissue repair to achieve a satisfactory result.Cicatricial ectropion is caused by shortening of anterior lamella as a result of either trauma or cicatricing skin disease.Generalised cicatricial ectropion is caused by combined horizontal & vertical skin shortage, which is treated with full thickness skin graft(FTSG).Attempts are made to find the thinnest, most color compatible tissue possible.Several donor sites for FTSG are upper lid skin, post auricular, supraclavicular fossa or inner arm.FTSG for cicatricial ectropion requires identifying & releasing the cicatricing forces, harvesting FTSG & suturing the graft into position.Commonly skin grafting is combined with lateral tarsal strip operation or horizontal lid resection. This video deals with the simple steps of harvesting the graft & correction of cicatricial ectropion.
