Purpose
In this video, we show two entirely different approaches in the management of two cases of iris trauma.
Methods
First case – A three year old baby presented with traumatic cataract and aniridia. Phaco-aspiration was done followed by insertion of two Aniridia rings to cover the iris defect. SP PCIOL was implanted followed by vitrectorhexis.
Second case – 20 years-old man presented with traumatic cataract and mydriasis. Phacoemulsification and SP PCIOL implantation was done. Pilocarpine was applied but had no effect. Purse string suture applied around pupillary margin to create a pupil. PI was done with vitrector.
Results
The first case regained a best corrected visual acuity (BCVA) of 6/9 with correction. In the second case a BCVA of 6/6 vision with correction was achieved.
Conclusions
In both eyes good cosmetic and visual outcome was achieved.
